Morning Sun Community Fund
The Morning Sun Community Fund is an endowment fund created in 2000 by William McHugh, then President of Central Michigan Newspapers. As an unrestricted community impact fund, grantmaking from this fund is not limited to a specific field of interest and may be used for a variety of different causes and programs in Isabella County.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation has funded a number of nonprofit organizations over the years as a result of the Morning Sun Community Fund, including Woodland Hospice, the Central Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross, Listening Ear Crisis Center, and the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen. Local government programs have been assisted as well, like the Isabella County Materials Recovery Facility, Central Michigan District Health Department and the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Most recently, grants were made to Women’s Aid Service for travel to and from court hearings, counselor meetings, and other needs; as well as to Central Michigan Pregnancy Services in support of their new medical facility offering free STD/STI testing, treatment, and education to local residents.
The Morning Sun Newspaper will continue to support and have a lasting effect on Isabella County through the Morning Sun Community Fund...forever!
