Olson Family Fund

Sandra and Dennis Olson have been involved with the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, giving of their time and resources to help improve our community. Sandy is the daughter of Idonea, “Dony,” and William E. Hersee. Her parents were dedicated community members who made important contributions to better the Mt. Pleasant area.

Sandra and Dennis made their home in Mt. Pleasant, too, raising their son Mark and continuing the legacy her parents had started in the community. They established the Olson Family Fund in 2015 to encourage the creativity, enhance the education, and improve the health and well-being of the residents of the Mt. Pleasant area. This donor advised fund will be used to sustain some of the same charities the Hersees supported, including Art Reach of Mid-Michigan, the Chippewa District Library, and the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation for the benefit of the Hersee House.

“My mother donated the Hersee House to the Foundation and we are strongly supportive of her gift,” said Sandy. “We want to see the Foundation prosper, as it is an important part of our community’s past, present and future.”
