Kenneth and Hilda Schmeck Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund
The Kenneth and Hilda Schmeck Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was created by friends and family to provide a scholarship to support a student currently accepted into or planning to enroll into Mid Michigan College’s Nursing Program.
Ken and Hilda Schmeck met at Saginaw General Hospital while Ken was working as an x-ray technician and Hilda was completing her degree as a registered nurse. After they were married the Schmeck's became longtime residents of Midland. Hilda used her nursing skills in a variety of ways, working at Midland Hospital, a local doctor’s office, and finally retiring from industrial nursing at the Dow Corning Corporation. Ken’s career took him to The Dow Chemical Company where he worked as a senior lab technician for 40 years, retiring in 1980.
Both Ken and Hilda were kind and generous people, always willing to help someone in need. Additionally, they recognized the value of a good education. As a tribute to both of them, their family and friends established this scholarship fund so the Schmeck’s legacy could live on with the Foundation forever.
