Gerald Watson Fund for H.A.T.S
Gerald R. Watson was a life-long member of the Mt. Pleasant Community. Other than his time in the Army during the Vietnam era where he served in Germany and Okinawa as well as in the United States, and the time he spent at Ferris State University, he was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, worked at Central Michigan University as an audio/visual technician, and eventually passed away here in February of 2023. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also of the Sons of Union Veterans, he lived a quiet life with his cats and friends. He was kind and thoughtful and always willing to help others.
Gerry (pronounced Gary) had a love of cats, and appreciated the joy and happiness they brought into his life. He had many cats over the years. When establishing his estate plan he decided to join the Foundation’s Legacy Society and provide funding for the local Humane Animal Treatment Society (or H.A.T.S) so that he could help save cats and other animals. He knew that by establishing the Gerald Watson Fund for H.A.T.S. he would be providing needed money that would benefit H.A.T.S. long after he was gone.
