MPACF Announces more than $114,000 in Grants
MT. PLEASANT, MI – The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation is proud to announce $114,882.84 in competitive grants to organizations dedicated to serving Isabella County.
Art Reach of Mid Michigan has been awarded $2,000 from the Russ Herron Poetry Fund to support the Wellspring Literacy Series, bringing free poetry readings from acclaimed poets to the Mt. Pleasant community.
CMU Police Department has received $5,290 from the Elizabeth Z. Miller & Bruce H. LaPointe Community Needs Fund, Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, and Sherwood Family Fund for the purchase of a DAX Video Camera for the CMU Police Drug Recognition Expert Program.
Christmas Outreach of Isabella County has been granted $4,000 from the Women's Initiative Fund to purchase approximately 130 sets of snow pants for children and young women and girls in need in Isabella County.
City of Mt. Pleasant Fire Department has been awarded $19,201 from the Barbara L. and George W. Dunn Family Fund, Community Impact Fund, Dr. Leonard E. and Louise A. Plachta Unrestricted Fund, and Tim and Mary Ann O'Neil Community Impact Fund for the purchase of two Thermal Imaging Devices. These devices allow firefighters to quickly make life-saving decisions when a person is trapped in a structure fire.
City of Mt. Pleasant Police Department has received $2,550 from the David B. and Susan K. Keilitz Family Fund, Steve and Sue Pung Family Fund, and Sullivan Family Fund to purchase 6 Delia Tactical Raptor Breaching tools. These tools will be placed in each patrol car for quick and easy access for all police officers to respond quickly and safely to any situation.
Community Mental Health for Central Michigan has been granted $25,000 from the Bandit Industries Community Fund, Community Impact Fund, Healthy Youth Healthy Seniors Fund, Isabella County Health Improvement Fund, Jerry M. and Marilyn A. Morey Community Fund, Kellogg Youth Fund, and Shepherd Community Fund Honoring Robert H. Bates to support the BlueJay Wellness Center, a school-based child and adolescent health center which will provide integrated behavioral and physical healthcare access to youth ages 5-21 for all students in the Shepherd school district.
Eagle Village has been awarded $2,000 from the Kellogg Youth Fund for their Scholarship Program 2023/2024, ensuring that financial circumstances are not a barrier for Isabella County youth and families seeking counseling services. Funds will support a minimum of 10 unique sessions.
Gratiot-Isabella RESD has received $3,000 from the Robert and Geraldine Krapohl Literacy Fund for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, supporting early childhood literacy by enrolling 115 Isabella County children between the ages of birth to 5 years old in the program.
Isabella Citizens for Health, Inc. has been granted $1,500 from the Robert and Geraldine Krapohl Literacy Fund for The Children's Library Project, facilitating access to approximately 1,200 books for young parents.
Isabella County Commission on Aging has received $6,000 from the Barbara A. Bissot Fund, Isabella Bank Director Memorial Fund, and Kay Smith Family Fund for the purchase of durable medical equipment.
Isabella County Commission on Aging has been awarded $2,235.40 from the Paula Arndt Women's Fund to provide 20 Isabella County seniors in need with personal emergency response systems.
Isabella County Parks and Recreation has received $3,000 from the Isabella Bank Director Memorial Fund, Kay Smith Family Fund, Schafer Community Impact Fund, and William and Janet Maar Strickler Community Impact Fund for the 2024 “Art from our Park” event, which will provide diverse art projects and entertainment in Deerfield Nature Park.
Isabella County Restoration House has been granted $4,000 from the Barbara L. and George W. Dunn Family Fund and Sally and John Goodrow Fund to order vital documents for ICRH guests and cover housing application fees.
Lansing Spartans Youth Organization has received $1,250 from the Tumbl Trak Fund for Youth Fitness to support the Youth Center.
Life Choices of Central Michigan has been granted $3,280 from the Dr. Leonard E. and Louise A. Plachta Unrestricted Fund, Missy and Doug LaBelle Family Foundation Community Impact Fund, Rapaport Family Fund, and Summit Petroleum Fund to cover lab costs for STD testing.
Mid-Michigan Industries has received $4,400 from the Fabiano Family Fund, Hersee Family Fund, and William and Janet Maar Strickler Community Impact Fund to empower individuals with disabilities through their “Bridging Futures: Career Discovery in Virtual Reality” project. The fund will support the purchase of two VR Oculus headsets.
Mount Pleasant Discovery Museum has been awarded $3,000 from the Kellogg Youth Fund to add 3 sensory kits, a sensory path, and a large sensory board to the museum to serve the diverse needs of their visitors.
Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan has received $4,250 from the Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, John P. and Ann S. Jensen Community Impact Fund, W. Sidney Smith and Judith French Smith Family Fund, and Weisenburger Family Fund to support their Family Support Program, offering a "home away from home" for families with children receiving in-patient care from Isabella County.
The Care Store has received $2,926.44 from the David B. and Susan K. Keilitz Family Fund, Denison Unrestricted Fund, Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, and Richard and Mary Barz Family Fund for the update of technology to ensure that more guests are served quickly and efficiently.
Village of Shepherd has been awarded $10,000 from the Access to Recreation Fund, Janet Maar Strickler Access to Recreation Fund, and Shepherd Community Fund Honoring Robert H. Bates for playground updates at the village park.
William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center has been granted $5,000 from the Denison Unrestricted Fund, G. Charles and Janice L. Hubscher Fund, Joanne Golden Family Community Impact Fund, and Michael D. and Dianne C. Morey Community Needs Fund to cover the unanticipated costs of their parking lot project.
William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center has received $1,000 from the Community Impact Fund, L.A. and Marilyn B. Johns Family Fund, and Staples Family Fund for the purchase and installation of a new roof hatch.
